Ingredients
Scale
Cheesecake Filling
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Apple Pie Filling
- 1 cup apple pie filling, chopped small
Pie Dough
- 1 package refrigerated pie dough (or biscuit dough)
Frying
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola), enough for deep frying
Optional Toppings
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare Cheesecake Filling: In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and cinnamon until smooth and creamy; set aside.
- Prepare Pie Dough Circles: Roll out the refrigerated pie dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4–6 inch circles to create individual pie wrappers.
- Fill the Pies: Place about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake mixture and 1 tablespoon of chopped apple pie filling into the center of each dough circle.
- Seal the Pies: Fold the dough circles over to form half-moon shapes, then press and crimp the edges firmly with a fork to ensure they are well sealed and won’t open during frying.
- Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C), ensuring there’s enough oil to submerge the pies fully for even frying.
- Fry the Pies: Carefully place pies into the hot oil in batches, frying for 2–3 minutes per side until they become golden brown and crispy.
- Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fried pies using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Serve the fried pies warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with caramel sauce if desired for an extra touch of sweetness.
Notes
- Ensure cream cheese is fully softened for smooth filling consistency.
- Do not overfill pies to prevent them from bursting during frying.
- Use a candy or deep-fry thermometer to maintain the oil at the correct 350°F temperature for optimal frying results.
- Adjust frying time slightly depending on the size and thickness of dough circles used.
- Leftovers can be reheated in an oven to retain crispiness; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
