Description

Superior Grill Salsa is a vibrant and flavorful homemade salsa made with whole and diced tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, fresh cilantro, and a blend of spices. It’s quick to prepare using a food processor and tastes even better after a day of refrigeration, making it a perfect condiment for chips, tacos, or grilled dishes.

Ingredients

Scale

Tomatoes

  • 2 (28-oz) cans whole tomatoes
  • 1 (14.5-oz) can diced tomatoes

Spices and Seasonings

  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cumin

Fresh Ingredients

  • ½ white onion
  • ¼ bunch fresh cilantro

Others

  • ½ (12-oz) jar pickled jalapeños, drained (6 oz total)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Drain the pickled jalapeños and roughly chop the white onion and fresh cilantro to ensure even blending.
  2. Combine in Food Processor: Place the whole tomatoes, diced tomatoes, drained jalapeños, chopped onion, cilantro, garlic powder, salt, and cumin in a food processor.
  3. Pulse to Desired Consistency: Pulse the mixture until you reach your preferred salsa texture, whether chunky or smoother.
  4. Refrigerate: Transfer the salsa to a covered container and refrigerate. Allow it to chill for at least a few hours, preferably overnight, for flavors to meld and develop fully.

Notes

  • For milder salsa, reduce the amount of pickled jalapeños.
  • This salsa tastes best after refrigerating for at least 24 hours.
  • Use fresh cilantro for best flavor; substitute with dried if unavailable but adjust quantity accordingly.
  • Adjust salt to taste depending on preference or dietary needs.
  • Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, grilled meats, or eggs.
