Description

Crispy and sweet cinnamon banana chips made easily in the air fryer. This recipe features ripe bananas coated with a honey and cinnamon mixture, air fried to golden perfection for a healthy and delicious snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Chips

  • 2 ripe bananas (firm, not too ripe)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Cinnamon Honey Coating

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prep the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them thinly, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Use a mandoline slicer if available to ensure even slices.
  2. Prevent Browning: Place the banana slices in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
  3. Make the Cinnamon Honey Coating: In a small bowl, mix honey or maple syrup with ground cinnamon and a pinch of salt if using. Stir until well combined.
  4. Coat the Banana Slices: Drizzle the cinnamon honey mixture over the banana slices and gently toss them to coat evenly.
  5. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. Arrange Banana Slices: Place the coated banana slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. You may need to air fry in batches depending on your air fryer size.
  7. Air Fry the Chips: Cook the banana slices in the air fryer for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Watch closely toward the end to prevent burning. The chips should turn golden brown and crispy.
  8. Cool and Crisp: Remove the banana chips from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
  9. Serve or Store: Enjoy immediately or store the banana chips in an airtight container for up to 2 to 3 days.

Notes

  • Use firm, ripe bananas for best texture—too soft bananas may not crisp well.
  • Adjust the cinnamon and honey quantity to taste.
  • Keep a close eye while air frying as banana chips can burn quickly toward the end.
  • Store chips in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain crispness.
