These Sweetheart Chicken Hand Pies are a delightful savory treat perfect for any occasion. Filled with a creamy and flavorful chicken mixture, encased in a flaky pie crust and shaped into adorable heart shapes, these hand pies are as delicious as they are charming.

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

For the Hand Pies:

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parsley until smooth and well mixed.
  3. Shape the Hand Pies: Roll out the pie crusts and cut into heart shapes using a large cookie cutter or knife. Place half the hearts on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon 1–2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture onto the center of each. Top with remaining heart-shaped crusts and press edges with a fork to seal.
  4. Bake: Brush the tops of the hand pies with the beaten egg. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • These hand pies can be made ahead and frozen before baking—just add a couple of extra minutes to the bake time.
