For the meatballs:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the gravy:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 package (1 oz) onion soup mix
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 3 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Optional garnish:

  • fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Cook in the slow cooker: Place the meatballs in the slow cooker. Mix beef broth, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup in a bowl, then pour over the meatballs. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  3. Thicken the gravy: Thirty minutes before serving, stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy.
  4. Serve: Serve the meatballs warm, garnished with parsley, over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
