Tofu Ground Beef:
- 1 block (14 ounces) extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the tofu: Crumble the pressed tofu into small, ground beef-sized pieces and place them in a large bowl.
- Season the tofu: Add the soy sauce, olive oil, tomato paste, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, black pepper, and nutritional yeast if using. Mix until all the tofu crumbles are well coated.
- Bake the tofu: Spread the tofu crumbles evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Serve: Use immediately as a substitute for ground beef in tacos, pasta, rice bowls, or salads.
