Tuna Salad:
- 2 (5 oz) cans tuna in water (drained)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon chopped pickles or relish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Grilled Sandwiches:
- 4 slices of your favorite bread
- 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
Instructions
- Tuna Salad: In a medium bowl, mix together the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, red onion, celery, pickles or relish, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Lay out the bread slices and place a slice of cheese on each. Spoon the tuna mixture evenly over two slices, then top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- Grill: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Spread butter on the outsides of each sandwich. Grill each sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve: Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, use sourdough or rye bread.
- You can swap cheddar for provolone or pepper jack for added flavor.
