Description

This Turkey Bolognese recipe is a delicious and hearty twist on the classic Italian meat sauce. Made with ground turkey, aromatic vegetables, and a rich tomato base, this sauce is perfect for serving over pasta, zucchini noodles, or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 carrots (peeled and finely chopped)
  • 2 celery stalks (finely chopped)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatic Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion, carrots, and celery until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Cook Ground Turkey: Add ground turkey, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook until browned.
  3. Add Tomato Base: Stir in tomato paste, then pour in wine and simmer. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes.
  4. Finish with Milk: Stir in milk and simmer for 5 more minutes. Adjust seasoning and serve over preferred base, garnished with parsley and Parmesan.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, let the sauce simmer longer on low heat.
  • You can swap turkey for ground chicken or lean beef.
  • This sauce freezes well for up to 3 months.
