Description

Wassail is a delicious and aromatic holiday punch that combines the flavors of apple cider, orange juice, and warm spices. Perfect for festive gatherings or cozy nights by the fire.

Ingredients

Scale

For Wassail:

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 4 whole allspice berries
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 apple, sliced into rounds
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large pot, combine apple cider, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add Spices: Add cloves, allspice, cinnamon sticks, and nutmeg to the pot. Drop in apple and orange slices.
  3. Simmer: Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and let it simmer gently for 30–45 minutes.
  4. Strain and Serve: Strain out the spices if desired before serving. Serve hot in mugs.

Notes

  • For a festive touch, garnish with extra fruit slices or a cinnamon stick.
  • You can also spike the wassail with brandy or spiced rum for an adult version.
