Description

For the burgers:

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 cup fresh spinach (chopped)
  • 1 cup white cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

For serving:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion
  • Mayonnaise or aioli (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, garlic, breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden brown on both sides (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  4. Toast the burger buns if desired.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun and topping with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a spread of mayo or aioli.
  6. Serve immediately.
