Cheese Dip:
- 1 pound white American cheese, cubed
- 1/2 cup whole milk, plus more as needed
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- Salt to taste
Garnish and Serving:
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
- Tortilla chips for serving
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the cubed white American cheese, whole milk, heavy cream, and butter. Stir constantly until the cheese is fully melted and the mixture is smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the diced jalapeño (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, and ground cumin. Add salt to taste.
- If the dip is too thick, stir in extra milk a tablespoon at a time until you reach your preferred consistency.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro if desired and serve warm with tortilla chips.
Notes
- For extra heat, use pepper jack cheese along with the white American cheese.
- Keep the dip warm in a small slow cooker for parties.
